Director’s Message
Overview & Vision
St. Catherine Junior School Kawempe, established in 2007, serves the Kawempe community by providing accessible primary education (registered with a center number). Our mission is to uplift children through quality learning, targeting a minimum 60% pass rate in first-grade exams and nurturing a progressive school culture.
Economics & Community Support
Funded by local businesses and community stakeholders, our modest but growing institution strives to reinvest funds into improving infrastructure, safety, and educational standards. Our evolving curriculum incorporates traditional subjects, as well as guidance, counseling, extracurriculars (such as swimming, aerobics, and sports), and student well-being.
Teacher Development & Supervision
Quality teaching is a priority. We conduct in-house and external teacher training seminars regularly, ensuring instructional consistency even during teacher absences. Internal supervisory systems include weekly site visits, heuristic evaluations, and comprehensive mid-term and end-of-term examinations. This structured oversight supports both teacher performance and student learning.
Communication & Safety
Effective communication is maintained through WhatsApp groups, supporting timely engagement with parents and guardians. Student safety measures include hygiene enforcement, improved campus security, CCTV monitoring, and maintenance of hazard-free zones.
Digitalization & Innovation
We are transitioning to a fully digitalized system—banking, admission processes, and student records are now computerized. Over the next five years, we plan to complete the digital rollout to optimize space and efficiency.
Admissions & Student Data
Our rigorous admissions form captures essential information: personal details (e.g., name, nationality, home address), guardian contacts, religious background, medical insurance/emergency consent, language proficiency, immunization records, previous school reports, and sports participation. Each form also includes policy agreements and documentation requirements (birth certificate, immunization report, etc.). Admission decisions (approved/rejected), interviews, assessments, and class placements are recorded for transparency and accountability.
Transport & Facilities
While we currently rely on a shared minivan (“Twilight China” van) for student transport, plans are underway to upgrade the fleet and enhance reliability. We continue to refurbish school facilities to support ongoing growth and innovation.
